Because nowadays the PDF/A format is generally regarded as the best format for documents' long-term archiving, Weaver fully supports this format.
While the data (e.g. E.D.I. standards, XML)/(e.g. E.D.I. and XML standards) exchanged between your E.R.P. and those of your business partners’ are non-readable to the human eye, you obviously need the document (e.g. a purchase order) to be easily readable.
For this reason Weaver generates a document in the PDF/A format incorporating metadata, which you will be able to immediately visualise on the monitor of your computer after the data-transmission via the Internet.
There are many advantages of using PDF/A:
- It ensures compliance with the ISO Standard (ISO 19005-1: Document Management - Electronic document file format for long term preservation )
- In its PDF/A 1-b version PDF/A permits perfect visual reproduction of any images
- PDF/A is an evolution of the PDF format - but specifically custom-built for documents' long-term archiving
- It's commonly used in many sectors as archives, banks, healthcare, industry, insurance, libraries, publishers and in the public sector (eg public administration, government)
For the above reasons the PDF/A format is becoming more important and popular. A second release, which is even better performing, will take place this year.
